CARE OF THE VIOLIN
To take good care of your
violin, the main thing is to avoid exposing it to high heat. You
should definitely avoid leaving the violin in an enclosed car in the
summer. The instrument is held together with hyde glue that comes
apart when heated. And try to keep the instrument in a fairly
regulated temperature and humidity. Also, remember to wipe the
rosiin off the surface of the violin so it won't damage the
finish. It's a good idea to turn the tuning pegs occasionally
when you are using fine tuners, so that the pegs don't get stuck in the
scroll. Also, keep an eye on the bridge, making sure that it is
not bowing, and that it is almost vertical.... with the top leaning a
bit towards the tail piece.
It's
very important to
remember to loosen the bow whenever you put away the insrument.
Otherwise, the continued strain on the wood in the bow will weaken and
perhaps warp the wood.
